What personally identifiable information is collected
from you
Smart Collecting collects information
in several ways from different parts of our web
site.
We may ask you for personal
information at certain times, including (but not
limited to) when you place ads, join our club
or trader's rating list, subscribe to our newsletters,
use our message boards, or participate in chat
rooms. If you contact us, we may keep a record
of that correspondence.
Any individual can browse Smart
Collecting on the World Wide Web. No registration
is required. However, there are some aspects of
our website where we do collect information about
our visitors or require registration. Any information
is never shared with anyone outside of Smart Collecting
(and Topica, our mailing list host provider) and
is used to refine our content based on our visitors.
To join the Smart Collecting
Club, visitors are asked to register. Our registration
form requests users to include their name, e-mail
address, age range, collecting interests, frequency
of Internet and how they found our website.
In order to receive one of our
free email newsletters, we only require an email
address.
In order to join our Trader's
Rating List, we require their name, e-mail address
and links (if applicable) to other website where
visitors can view their feedback rating.
In order to post a free ad in
our Classifieds section, we require their name,
e-mail address, city, and state.

How Smart Collecting protects children's privacy
Smart Collecting is a general
audience web site. Children should always ask
a parent for permission before sending personal
information to anyone online. Smart Collecting
does not share personal information about users
under the age of 13 with third parties and we
do not sell or rent personal information about
any of our users, regardless of age.

What else you should know about your online privacy
Please keep in mind that whenever
you voluntarily disclose personal information
online - for example in ads that you post or through
email - that information can be collected and
used by others. In short, if you post personal
information online that is accessible to the public,
you may receive unsolicited messages from other
parties in return.
Ultimately, you are solely responsible
for maintaining the secrecy of your passwords
and/or any account information. Please be careful
and responsible whenever you're online.
